Eco Ring recently partnered with Greenladies to host a "Fashion & Style Crash Course," aiming to educate employees on various brands, trends, and fashion concepts. The goal was to deepen the Greenladies' team's understanding of the value of pre-owned designer fashion.
Through this workshop, Eco Ring actively promoted the idea that luxury brands can also be eco-friendly. They are working to popularize the culture of buying and selling secondhand designer items.
Many people consider luxury goods expensive and unattainable. However, in Japan and western, "vintage stores" and "thrift shops" are very popular. Even designer fashion can be purchased at affordable prices in the secondhand market.
Because of this thriving market, people are more likely to sell their old items. This reduces waste and allows others to buy desired items at reasonable prices. Eco Ring hopes to promote the concept of "luxury brands can be eco-friendly" to reduce the environmental damage caused by fast fashion and overconsumption in Hong Kong.
Greenladies, founded in 2008, is the first social enterprise in Hong Kong to operate using a fashion consignment model. In addition to promoting secondhand fashion, they are committed to providing sustainable employment opportunities for middle-aged women, promoting economic independence and the recycling of social resources.
